Children’s blood disorders on rise in Kyrgyzstan

More children turn to hospitals with various blood disorders in Kyrgyz every year,” Asanbek Kucherbaev, leading hematology specialist of the National Motherhood and Childhood Protection Centre told 24.kg.

“In 2005, for instance, there was only one case of aplastic anemia in Kyrgyzstan. In 2008 we registered three cases. Therewith, anemia patients have reached 144. It is a dramatic growth and this is only the official statistics. Many still do not know about their sickness,” Kucherbaev said.

Any form of anemia has negative impact on children’s intellect and should be treated before a child turns three.
